Ryan Gardner
Participation in the arts was always important to me growing up. A strong arts program in high school influenced my decision to pursue a degree in the arts. I chose the arts program at Bowling Green State University in northwest Ohio where I discovered and fell in love with metals. I was introduced to many artists, including Michael Boyd, who became an inspiration for me.
Upon graduation I apprenticed for Michael Boyd at his studio in Colorado. That experience turned into an eight year adventure that continues today. It was with Michael that I learned to work with and manipulate stone, adding a new element to my love of jewelry design.
Since being in Colorado I have started my own business, Ryan Gardner Designs. I now showcase my work in galleries across the country. I love working with combining stone and metal in new ways creating works of art for people to enjoy in their daily lives.

A SHOW of GRATITUDE

It can be hard during challenging times to feel gratitude. However, they say, and I believe, making a conscious effort to think about it can change a bad week to a good one. And the more one thinks about it the more one realizes just how much there is to be thankful for. At least that has been my experience.

This November Danaca Design will present, A SHOW OF GRATITUDE, an exhibition and fundraiser, exploring the theme of gratitude. Each day in November, leading up to the big day of thanks, we will share one piece from the show on IG and FB along with the maker’s story. The work will be on exhibit throughout the month. Proceeds from the sale of these works will be donated to the organization of the artist’s choice.

Join us daily for this inspiring and joyful experience! @danacadesignstudio

STATE|meant 2020

STATE│meant is a show of Significant and Powerful Jewelry. It is an opportunity for jewelry artists to speak out on challenging subjects and raise money for organizations significant to them. Subjects range from immunization and global climate change to immigration rights and the post office. The statements are in the form of necklaces, brooches, bracelets…there is even a tiara. Our jurors, moved by the eloquence of the submitting artists, selected work for both its strength in messaging through design and the clarity of their written statements.

The selected work is on view and available in our online gallery through mid-November. A minimum of 50% of proceeds from each sale will be donated to the organization of the artist’s choosing. Below is a list of donation beneficiaries. Please click on the links for more information.  Furthermore, each piece will compete on Instagram for best in show as chosen by popular vote. Tune in to @danacadesignstudio for daily postings. The winner will be announced November 4, 2020.

Our esteemed jurors: Keith Lewis and Nancy Megan Corwin

Yukata Jewelry Show

A Creative Collaboration between Okan Arts and Danaca Design

Vintage hand-dyed yukata cotton from Japan is the inspiration for the work in the Yukata Jewelry Show. The fabric, provided by Okan Arts, was sourced from over 30 vendors in Japan—antique shops, vintage warehouses, used kimono shops, and pickers. A cadre of artists affiliated with Danaca Design took the challenge—to design a piece of jewelry inspired by or made from this luscious and dynamic fabric.

On view in the gallery September 2020

Ring Smackdown 2020

battle of the rings 2020 teams
Battle of the Rings Teams

Battle of the Rings, or the RING SMACKDOWN as we so fondly call it, is a head-to-head, tournament-style, ring competition and exhibition. Narrowed down by jury from 128 entries submitted from across the country and abroad, to just 64 exceptional rings, these fantastic objects are not only beautiful and fun but many are works of art. With themes of nesting and protection they are snapshots of this unprecedented time in history. Collectively they represent a wide range of materials, style, technique and personality. Just to be clear, for the most part these are not everyday-rings, they are statement rings and lucky for you they are ALL FOR SALE!

VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITES!

The rings have been paired into matches and will go head-to-head beginning June 1st for a top prize of $500. All voting happens online, at the Danaca Design Studio Instagram account @danacadesignstudio EVERY morning at 9:00am (Pacific time) throughout the month of June. One Ring to Rule Them All; May the Best Ring Win!
