Artist Statement:
I am a long practicing jeweler/metalsmith. My preferred zone of work is hand fabrication. This piece is part of a series of snake jewels that was born in this time of the virus. Becoming so familiar with my materials over the years and honing my skills makes me feel like metal is as plastic as clay. This “plasticity” is very exciting and makes me feel as though anything is possible in the jewelry studio. These snake things are like animated cartoons.
Beyond being a maker I enjoy teaching and have taught workshops at Penland School of Crafts, Arrowmont and UGA Studies Abroad Cortona among others. For many years I participated in numerous Craft Shows all across the country and may show up at some in the future. I have been represented by Galleries such as Velvet Da Vinci, Gravers Lane, Penland Gallery, Gallery IO and many others.
Life without creativity would be impossible!
