Artist Statement:
I am a lapidary artisan and truly admire the beautiful things nature creates. Being able to transform a part of that beauty into something a person can wear and admire is such a rewarding experience. I love stones and minerals, I love the art of jewelry and I love what I do.
The first step in making this ring was creating the center piece, Tourmalated Quartz on-top of Lapis (bonded together with epoxy). Next, a hand-carved wax design was made, which was then cast into silver. Then, the setting was cleaned up and shaped before it was gold plated in a select area. To finish the piece, 2 pegs were inserted through the stone to secure it to the setting.
