Artist Statement:
Aya Hasegawa is a metalsmith based in Los Angeles, CA.
She studied her practice at Long Beach City College and is currently a full-time bench jeweler at a body jewelry company.
The “Nest” ring is made with hand crocheted sterling silver wires and a large freshwater pearl. This ring is inspired by the COVID-19 stay-home order. A freshwater pearl that looks like two eggs laying together represents loved ones staying together above the “nest” (your safe place) of crocheted wire.
