Artist Statement:
My name is Melanie Smith. I received my MFA from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2012 and my BFA from Edinboro University in 2006. I currently live in southern Maryland where I am a high school teacher and enjoy producing work in my home studio. This ring is a new edition to my current body of work , where I am exploring the idea of things being trapped or held somewhere they should not be.
