Title of Ring:
Coming Out of My Shell
Materials:
garden snail shell, epoxy, silver, brass
Size:
7
Dimensions:
7/8″ x 3/32″
Artist Statement:
I am a museum exhibit mountmaker. All my work involves holding onto an existing object, and thus the design is determined by the shape of the object. This ring is the first piece of my own art that I have made in a very long time and is significant in that the pandemic shutdown is helping me step back from the seriousness of real work and have more fun. I’m coming out of my shell in many ways, albeit slowly. The snail is a worthy symbol of that slow progress.
